Labor Day 2010

Thousands of people turned out and cheered for area unions in the 2010 Labor Day Parade, incuding TNG members, CWA members, and a contingent of Jobs with Justice members, who are also members of our union. More than 80 locals turned out to march in the 2010 Labor Day parade.

The Jobs with Justice staff brought along a 12-foot T-Rex to bring attention to the dangers of Proposition A. This ballot measure is bankrolled by billionaire Rex Sinquefield - a man who has flooded Missouri since 2002 with millions of dollars to aggressively bring his regressive vision front and center into Missouri's politics. Proposition A would would elimiate St. Louis City's Earning Tax that underwrites more than 1/3 of the city's budget; Rex has yet to suggest how the city of St. Louis would function without these vital funds.

The T-Rex street theater was very popular and helped expose how passing Prop A would cause serious interruption of city services and layoffs of city personnel, including firefighters and police.
